Typhoon Mangkhut hits Philippines, Hong Kong

 In Event News

Typhoon Mangkhut devastated parts of the northern Philippines on the weekend, making landfall with wind speed equivalent to a category 5 hurricane. The huge storm had weakened when it reached Hong Kong, but was still equivalent to a category 2 hurricane; record storm surge was also reported.

Mangkhut is moving inland through southern China today, where it is expected to weaken to a tropical depression by tomorrow.
