Tropical Storm Karl Develops in Gulf of Mexico, Expected to Approach Mexico by Friday
Tropical Storm Karl has formed in the Gulf of Mexico but poses no threat to Florida or the U.S. Gulf Coast. Currently, it has a wind speed of 40mph and is swirling over the Bay of Campeche. It is partly developed by the remnants of Hurricane Julia.
The storm is anticipated to strengthen more until weakening on Thursday. It is expected to hit Mexico by early Friday causing up to 10 inches of rain.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for a section of the Gulf coast of Mexico, extending from Veracruz to far south of Tampico.
