Devastating Flash Floods Wreak Havoc in Tennessee and Kentucky: Actionable Insights on EigenPrism

 In Event News

On Friday morning, water rescues and evacuations were required in the southern regions due to severe flash floods that posed a life-threatening risk. Among the hardest-hit areas were sections of western Kentucky and Tennessee, where multiple flash flood emergencies were declared. A substantial 9 to 11 inches of rainfall occurred over Thursday night into Friday morning.

Home evacuations were prompted by a separate flash flood emergency in Fulton County, Kentucky. The county also witnessed significant flooding on numerous roadways due to 11 inches of rainfall near Hickman, Kentucky.

Northern Alabama experienced torrential rain on Friday morning, causing a significant impact on the city of Oneonta, situated roughly 30 miles northeast of Birmingham. The city received more than 4 inches of rain within a span of less than 3 hours, triggering rapid flash flooding.

The already flood-affected state of Kentucky is further exacerbated by these flash floods, compounding the ongoing challenges from severe flooding last month. Any further rainfall could reignite flooding concerns across sections of Kentucky and Tennessee.
