Severe Cyclone Biparjoy Shifts Course, Poses Threat to Gujarat Coastline: Actionable Insights on EigenPrism

 In Event News

On June 15, Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make landfall near the coast of northern Gujarat after moving slightly eastward. The storm was previously anticipated to approach the Pakistani coastline.

The Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre (RSMC) in India has classified Biparjoy as an “extremely severe cyclonic storm,” the second-highest category in strength. As of Sunday evening, the cyclone was located approximately 540 km west of Mumbai.

It is predicted to bring storm surges of 2 to 3 meters, destroying thatched and pucca homes, and blocking roads, in addition to damaging orchards, plantations, and standing crops. Additionally, it might interfere with Gujarat’s coastal areas’ railways, powerlines, and signaling systems.
