Nor’easter This Week Leaves New York and New England Buried in Snow and Thousands Without Power: Footprints Available

Snow is piling up after significant regions of the US were hit by a nor’easter, causing power outages for hundreds of thousands of people. The towns of Moriah and Stony Creek in New York, and Marlboro, Vermont reported snowfall of up to 36 inches by Tuesday night, whereas Beacon, New York recorded 43 inches of snow 

The widespread power outages left approximately 237,000 homes and businesses without power and resulted in several school closures,. About 40,000 residences and businesses in New York were still without power on Wednesday. Over 2,000 flights were canceled in the US on Tuesday as a result of the storm. 

The National Weather Service predicts an additional 1 to 4 inches of snowfall in parts of upstate New York and New England on Wednesday. The snowfall is expected to decrease overnight, but strong winds with gusts of up to 50 mph could still impact the mid-Atlantic and Northeast in the morning.
