Historic Rainfall Wreaks Havoc in St. Louis, Missouri

 In Event News

From late Monday to early Tuesday, St. Louis had more than 9 inches of rain, exceeding the city’s biggest 24 hour rainfall total on record, which was 7.02 inches on August 19–20, 1915. Northwest of St. Louis, in the suburbs, 12.34 inches of rain fell in St. Peters.

The region experienced severe flash flooding on Tuesday morning as a result of the historic rainfall storm, which saw some locations get more than a foot of rain in a matter of hours.

Heavy rain continues to pour in St. Louis and the surrounding suburbs on Tuesday morning as thunderstorms continue to linger over Missouri.

The entire area is heavily inundated due to St. Louis rainfall. Around 18 houses have been submerged under water and more than 6000 power outages have been reported. The four interstates (I-70, I-64, I-55, and I-44), which lead into downtown St. Louis, were all closed early on Tuesday as a result of flooding.
