Highland Fire Spreads Across Riverside County Battling 2,500 Acre: Assess the Impact

 In Event News

The Highland Fire, which has erupted in Aguanga, Riverside County, covers nearly 2,500 acres. Thousands of people have been evacuated from the affected area, seven structures have been destroyed, six have sustained damage, and one reported firefighter injury. As of Wednesday evening, firefighting teams have achieved a 20% containment level.

The wildfire initially ignited on Monday afternoon in the vicinity of Highlands Road and Aguanga Ranchos Road, near the junction of Highways 79 and 371. Authorities attribute the rapid growth of the flames to the influence of strong Santa Ana winds and dry weather conditions. As of Tuesday, the fire had expanded to cover 2,487 acres.

On Monday, evacuation orders were issued for about 1,300 homes and approximately 4,000 residents, as stated by Jeff LaRusso of the Riverside County Fire Department. Additionally, another substantial vegetation fire within Camp Pendleton was visible from miles away, characterized by large plumes of smoke rising over the area.
