Severe weather struck Florida on Thursday, damage to homes, vehicles, and businesses due to at least one tornado.
In Clearwater Beach, a likely tornado made landfall early Thursday morning, destroying at least two homes. Additionally, damage, including downed power lines, was reported near the coast in Dunedin, located north of Clearwater Beach, as stated by town officials.
Further in Crystal River, approximately 65 miles to the north, stemming from another potential tornado, Citrus County officials mentioned that most of the roads closed due to downed power lines, fallen trees, and debris, had been reopened. As a result, schools across the county were closed on Thursday.
The severe storms continued to move eastward across the state, reaching parts of northeast Florida on Thursday morning. An EF2 tornado, with wind speeds of 115 mph, left a path of destruction extending for a mile through Palm Coast on Florida’s Atlantic coast.
