Heatwaves Contribute to Wildfires Throughout Europe

European Wildfire 2022 Summary- Parts of western Europe are experiencing extreme heat, with wildfires blazing in Greece, France and Spain.

Fires were reported on Monday afternoon in Finistère, which is located on the nation’s Atlantic coast. More than 700 acres of land has been devastated by the flames in less than eight hours, forcing the evacuation of numerous towns. Till now 32,000 people have been evacuated as a result of a fire that has consumed 27,000 acres in southwest France’s Gironde region.

According to Reuters, wildfires swept the northern Galicia region and the Castile and León province in the centre of Spain on Sunday. Due to the fire, the state-owned railroad was also forced to cease service between Madrid and Galicia. More than 70,000 hectares of land have been destroyed by the fires in Spain this year.
