On Tuesday, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck northeast Afghanistan, damaging properties and structures. The quake, centred in a mountainous region near the border with Pakistan. also triggered landslides.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 40 kilometers southeast of the Afghan town of Jurm in the Hindu Kush mountain range, with a depth of 187.6 kilometers. Tremors were also felt in several major Pakistani cities and as far away as New Delhi, India.
