Severe Cyclonic Storm Asani to Make Landfall in Eastern India
Tropical cyclone warning is in effect for the coast of Andra Pradesh as Eastern India prepares for torrential rain and strong winds. While the rest of the country is battling extreme heat waves, the Cyclonic Storm Asani will impact country’s eastern coast.
As per the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Asani is developing in the Bay of Bengal with winds up to 62 to 68mph and higher gusts. Cyclone Asani will make landfall on India’s east coast late Wednesday morning. The coast could witness a rainfall of approximately 6 inches for the next few days.
The storm is expected to track northwest where it can produce widespread winds and rainfall. By Thursday, the storm will most likely track towards north-northeast, riding along the coast and impacting Odisha.
According to the reports, Asani’s interaction with land with cause the storm to gradually weaken. However, it is likely that the storm will produce flooding rainfall as it slows.
