Yosemite National Park Wildfire Set To Become Biggest Blaze in California

 In Event News
Oak fire California, a rapidly spreading brush fire near Yosemite National Park grew into one of the region’s biggest wildfires of the year on Saturday, forcing thousands of people to evacuate.
The Oak Fire began on Friday afternoon in Mariposa County, southwest of the park and by Sunday had spread to about 15,603 acres.

The fire is threatening 2,000 additional structures as of Sunday morning after damaging five and destroy+ing 10 residential and business buildings. One of the main entrances to Yosemite was blocked when Highway 140 was closed between Carstens Road and Allred Road, as a result of the fire.

More than 400 firefighters are battling the blaze alongside helicopters, other aircraft, and bulldozers in the midst of the worst drought in decades, which is causing the severe heat, low humidity, and bone-dry vegetation.
