California Braces for 12th Atmospheric River, Heightening Flood Threat: Footprints Available

 In Event News

California is bracing for yet another atmospheric river, marking the 12th this winter season. The state has already experienced severe storms and flooding. On Tuesday, the 12th atmospheric river is predicted to make landfall in southern California, bringing with it colder weather than the prior systems. It is anticipated to bring heavy rain, mountain snow, and the threat of floods. The system will also cause 1-4 inches of rain in Southern California through Thursday. Arizona may also experience up to 3 inches of rainfall.

Strong winds with gusts up to 80 mph are also anticipated, with potential for damage to trees and electrical lines from the central California coast to southern California. The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and San Bernardino Mountains are under a winter storm watch, where the 12th atmospheric river could bring an additional 1-4 feet of snowfall and gusts up to 85 mph from late Monday through Wednesday afternoon.
